The Conference Rankings
With not a lot of action over the holiday break, I put the conference rankings on the back burner until played heated up again.
| Conference | Points |
Last Week (Pts) (Change) |
| 1. Hockey East | 40.30 | 1st (41.50) (-1.20) |
| 2. WCHA | 37.80 | 2nd (40.40) (-2.60) |
| 3. CCHA | 33.58 | 3rd (32.55) (+1.00) |
| 4. ECAC | 29.83 | 4th (25.33) (+4.50) |
| 5. CHA | 15.75 | 5th (17.75) (-2.00) |
| 6. Atlantic Hockey | 10.60 | 6th (11.80) (-1.20) |
ANALYSIS: The big jump in these rankings is the ECAC, which jumps a substantial 4.50 points in the last month. The ECAC is powered by strong showings from Princeton (No. 2) and Cornell (No. 3), their only teams in the top-10. But, the league has some strong mid-rankings showers like Dartmouth (No. 13) and Quinnipiac (No. 14).
For those of you wondering, Merrimack is ranked 37th in the KRACH, with the 26th toughest schedule in the country. The Warrior’s opponent this weekend, Northeastern, is ranked 4th with the nation’s 3rd toughest schedule to date. The Huskies are 12-4-2.

Wouldn’t it better to divide the total points by the number of teams in the league and rank them that way?
That’s exactly what happens. … For example, HEA totaled 403 points, divided by the 10 teams in the conference, and you get 40.30 points.
The CHA totaled 63 points, divided by four teams is 15.75 points.
